In the Bridgeton district in the East End of Glasgow, the Black Cat Picture House was opened in 1921 by A. E. Pickard (of the city centre Panopticon Theatre). Around 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system.
In February 1945 it was sold to Springfield Entertainments Ltd., but it closed in September 1955.
The building became a BBC TV studio and rehearsal rooms, then, from 1970, a warehouse.
When I visited, in June 2003, it was occupied by James McDade, box and cardboard manufacturers. In more recent images the building still has the remnants of the James McDade signage, but appeared to be derelict. It was demolished in May 2015.
