On 1/22/50, address was 125 E. Santa Barbara, which would put it across the street from the address listed above.

The 1939 L.A. City Directory has the Allena Theatre listed at 120 E. Santa Barbara Avenue. The 1942 directory has it at 126 E. Santa Barbara. In the 1956 directory, Kapp’s market is listed at 120 E. Santa Barbara, and the Allena Theatre is not listed at all. According to the L.A. County assessor’s office, the building currently on that lot, now numbered 120 E. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, was built in 1982.

according to a person who attended the theatre. it was on the corner of santa barbara avenue & woodlawn. the street – santa barbara was renamed martin luther king jr. blvd. theatre spelling was given as Alena.
African American Theater Buildings: An Illustrated Historical Directory, 1900-1955. Smith, Eric Ledell. Jefferson, NC: McFarland & Company, Inc., Publishers, 2003. p27
lists the theatre as Ailena-picture house, 700 seats. their ref; film daily yearbook, 1949-1955.

it’s suggested you correct the street name.
