Galion 3 Drive-In

The Galion Twin Drive-In opened on September 7, 1973. On screen (one) was the 1973 action/adventure “Live and Let Die” with Roger Moore, Yaphet Kotto and Jane Seymour. The second feature on screen one was the 1972 western/action “The Honkers” with James Coburn, Lois Nettleton and Slim Pickens. On screen (two) was the 1966 action “The Wild Angels” with Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern and Nancy Sinatra. The second feature was the 1967 action/drama “The Glory Stompers” with Dennis Hopper, Jody McCrea and Chris Noel. The final feature is the 1967 action/drama “Born Losers” with Tom Laughlin, Elizabeth James and Jeremy Slate.

The drive-in theatre was opened by Harold E. Thompson who also owned indoor theatres in Galion, Crestline, Willard and Marysville, Ohio. He bought the property in 1968. On July 21, 1978, the drive-in was renamed the Galion Tri-Plex with the addition of a (third) screen tower. Alan Teicher (dba Teicher Theatres) took over the operation of the drive-in from Thompson. Teicher renamed the drive-in to the Galion 3 Drive-In. From 1982 until it closed at the end of the 1985 season it was operating with two-screens. In 1997 the property was sold to the Sautter Brothers and turned back into farmland. The screen towers were finally taken down in August of 2015.

A slightly more accurate address is 1472 OH-598, Galion, Ohio as this will take you right to the front entrance. http://tinyurl.com/on6t2ef

The above address is incorrect. That address is across the highway from the former theater.

The advertisement above IS correct. The address for this theater is 1469 OH-598, Galion, OH 44833. This points directly to the entrance road which is still there. The concession foundation is also still there. Please update.
