The St. Andrews Cinema opened on July 10, 1970 as part of the local Arthur Theatres chain.
When Arthur Theatres went out of business, the Wehrenberg Theatres chain took it over for a couple years. In 1983, the St. Andrews became an independent second run theatre with a discount policy. The theater was made into a three-screen in 1997.
This theater and the Keller 8 are the only two discount theaters left in the St. Louis market. The St. Andrews Cinema 3 was damaged by a fire on October 2, 2019. It was reopened on November 24, 2023, but had possibly closed by September 2025.

The theater is temporarily closed after a small fire early this morning.

According to the marquee, the theater wont be reopening until summer. Either the fire did more damage than the news let on, the repairs are expensive so they’re spacing them out, or they’re taking the opportunity to do additional renovations unrelated to repairs from the fire.
Having been closed for well over a year now, first from the fire, and then the pandemic, the theater is now apparently up for sale.
New ownership must have been found. The marquee now says “Coming Soon”.
Finally, it looks like it will be reopening this year.

I dont know what the status is of the theater right now. Their marquee hasnt listed anything but events, and their website has no Now Playing or Coming Soon.
It appears one of the very last links to my childhood in St. Charles is no more. It might still be open but, after that fire and COVID, it was most likely never going to be a true movie theater again. So long, St. Andrews. Thanks for the memories.
Could not find the actual website for this theater, but I found their page on Yelp!:

There’s some good pictures that give you a good idea of the recent use for the theater, but the three most recent Yelp reviews are not complimentary at all.
If this place is still open, they have some major work ahead of them.
Opened with “Goodbye Mr. Chips”.
