Located in the North Tyneside village of Wideopen, 9 miles north of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The Reno Cinema was located at 28 Great North Road and opened on 11th September 1938. Seating was on a stadium plan, with a raised stepped section at the rear, rather than a conventional overhanging balcony. The proscenium was 25ft wide and the stage 10ft deep. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system.

The Reno Cinema was closed on 26th June 1960. It was converted into a bingo club. After that closed the building was purchased by the Co-Op and a Co-Op supermarket opened, which continues to operate in 2015.
