The 4 new screens have indoor and outdoor lounge seating areas, and new toilets and candy bar and ticket booth and modifications to the building facade.

Star Cinema only lasted a few years(i think?) before becoming part of New Oxford again(now Luna Leederville).

4 more screens were opened in late december 2017, up in recently closed down fish and tackle shop with 4 more screens adiing another combined 164 seats.

The movie “The Gods must be crazy” ran in this cinema for 3 years.

I think the Star Cinema only lasted a few years(?), before going back to being part of the New Oxford Theatre. I think the longest film run there(and possibly in Western Australia or even Australia?) was “The Gods must be crazy, which for over 2 years(possibly even over 3 years?) which saved the theatre in the 1980’s.

The New Oxford Theatre opened on 2/3/1927 with Unit 1 – “overture(a pot pourii of popular melodies(by the New Oxford Orchestra))”, Unit 2 – “The New Oxford animated review of tropical events”, Unit 3 – “official opening by the Hon. Minister for Works(A.C. McCallum, MLA)”, Unit 4 – “comedy(20 minutes of fun)”, Unit 5 – “Steteoscopiks(novelty film)”, Unit 6 – “Miss Beryl Mills(Miss Australia) in Hollywood”, Unit 7 – “Vaudeville(various acts)”, Interval, Unit 8 – “Entracte(The parade of the Tin Soliders(by the New Oxford Orchestra))”, Unit 9 – (main film) – Steel Preferred", and finished by playing “God Save The King”.

The New Oxford Theatre opened on 2/3/1927. The original name is still on the building(Oxford Street side).
