Melba Picture Hall

The King’s Picture Gardens opened in December 1908 at Perth Esplanade, and closed in April 1911. It reopened as Esplanade Picture Gardens in January 1912, and closed early-1913. The Empire Picture Palace opened on 18th December 1911 and closed in April 1912. Reopened as King’s Picture Palace (sometimes known as the King’s Theatre) in April 1912, and closed in early-1913.

Reopened as Melba Picture Palace on 7th June 1913, and closed on 2nd August 1914. The theatre site is now shops to the left of the Murray Street entrance of Piccadilly Arcade. The Gardens site is now the Elizabeth Quay site.

The shop that was there was Top Shop(owned by Myer?)(i think?), which has just closed down and is nkw empty.

I think the building there is a market(Perth Fresh Market?)?
