The Lakeway Drive-in opened on 18th April 1957 with “3 Ring Circus”. The drive-in closed in 1982(or 1984?). The Lakeway Drive-In closed in June 1984.
It re-opened as the Oceanview Drive-In on 29th March 1985 with “Cannonball Run 2”, and “Porky’s 2” the next day, and “Rambo Part 2-First Blood”. The drive-in finally closed on 6th July 1985 with “Love Swedish Style” and “Bel Ami”.
The drive-in site was sold by Claremont Town Council in 1989 for a reputed 6 million dollars(Australian). The projection room and kiosk and ticket booths were demolished in 1990(except for the bases). The ramps and speaker posts and speakers, and fences and gates, and playground equipment,and (projector, and kiosk ,and ticket booth bases) remained until(2005?) The screen remained until taken down(2000-2005?). The site is now a housing estate named Lakeway residential estate. The streets in the estate are named after other Way Drive-in’s.

The Lakeway Drive-in(original name) closed in June 1984.
Reopened in(1984?) as Family Films WA Drive-in with “Tarka the otter” and “Gospel Road”. Closed in(1984 or early 1985?) before reopening as the Oceanview Drive-in.
