Beautiful eight screen theater with all the modern amenities for all film lovers. In the 2010’s a ninth screen was added.

This theater has a real hometown feel—unusual for a multiplex. When I have seen movies here, I’ve noticed that the staff, which encompasses a spectrum of age groups, is very friendly and courteous. Also, there are bullitin boards and displays in the lobby promoting local community groups, functions, and events. It’s really nice to see how the Garcias and Andrades utilize their roles as local movie exhibitors to support the community.
One of my favorite places to see a movie. Comfortable seats, friendly attentive staff.
I asked someone on staff to speak to some people who had not only brought a baby to “Public Enemy” but wouldnt step out when the tommy gun fire upset the tike (another point in favor of single screens over multiplexes; crying windows). The clerk (?) talked dad (who was quite a bit bigger than him) into taking junior into the hall but also stuck around for teh next half hour to make sure the dad didnt reappear till baby was asleep again.
The theatre has added a ninth screen in the past few years.
The state-of-the-art Green Valley Cinema first opened with six screens (featuring 17x40 screens in each auditorium with a 900 seating capacity) on May 19, 1999, under the owners of Hank and Lucille Garcia among their family. One of the first films on grand opening was Star Wars Episode 1. Two more screens were added during the second week of July 2003 bringing a total to eight screens and a ninth screen was added around a decade later.
Construction began on July 22, 1998. During construction despite being an all first-run theater, Hank also originally planned to add foreign and independent films to the theater itself but that plan was scrapped.
The lease has been taken over by CineLux Cinemas. They run theatres in Capitola, Scotts Valley, Los Gatos and in the South Bay San Jose area. A gold mine for movie lovers as It is the only theatre in the city of Watsonville at this time. Lets hope the new owners will up grade the place with Dolby Atmos or a mini Imax screen. Time also to bring the old drive in back.
