Wagin Drive-In

The Wagin Drive-In opened on 12th September 1963 with Frank Sinatra in “Sergeants 3” and “The Lone Ranger and the Lost City of Gold”, plus a color cartoon(not named), and news. The opening night was invitation only, the next night was for the general public(same programme). The Wagin Drive-In closed in 1983. Only the ticket booth is still there complete.

The main entrance was on Rifle N Street. The drive-in site is next to the Wagin Historical Village, which may own the site!!?

Google Map street view from 2008 shows the ticket booth intact, but the property itself is covered in trees and has a few buildings on it.

I do not see the screen as a building seems to be in its place. So, the drive-in does not appear to be intact.

I think the screen may been gone too. The snack bar and bio box is still there, and the fences and entrance(and exit?) roads and gates. The building on the spot where the screen may have been is possibly part of the Wagin Historical Village? The projectors are now at The Betty Terry Memorial Theatre(formally called Little Gem Theatre) in Wagin.

I think the exit may have been on Rifle N Street(the arch over it is now gone i think?)?

27 Ballagin St is a better address.

I think what is left of the Wagin Drive-in might have been incorparated into the Wagin Historical Village?

Exhibitor was Paddy Baker(Wagin Drive-in P/L)(1963 to 1970’s), Frank & Betty Terry(mid 1970’s to 1983).
