Star Drive-In

The Star Drive-In was opened on November 16, 1947 with Claudette Colbert in “The Egg and I”. It was operated by Howard Metzger, but was soon taken over by Claude Ezell and Associates, who also operated the towns' Charro Drive-In from 1949 and by 1955 would operate the Fiesta Drive-In. The Star Drive-In was closed on July 13, 1956 with Jack Palance in “The Big Knife” & Barbara Hale in “Unchained”.

Approximate address is 4228 Old Highway 77, Brownsville, TX. The drive-in was located on the west side of the old highway with the screen facing NE and sitting next to the road and the waterway.

Today, there is a housing edition and apartments on the property with no trace left of the drive-in.

I don’t think this one lasted very long, looks like it was closed by the early 60’s.

Opened on 16/11/1947 with “The egg and i”. Closed on 13/7/1956 with “Big knife” and “Unchained”.
