The Strand Theatre was operating in the mid-1920’s in a building formerly occupied by a garage. The structure was later more extensively remodeled into a modern theatre.
In 1941, the Strand Theatre’s owner, Sidney Jacobson, built the new Farmingdale Theatre next door to the Strand Theatre. The Strand Theatre might have closed when the Farmingdale Theatre was opened on January 30, 1942. Currently the building is occupied by a restaurant.

What I find interesting about the Strand, and the neighboring Unqua, is that they were created out of other business structures, while the Opera House, which was located just down the street was never used as a movie venue. It, subsequently was converted into a factory.
