The Buffalo Drive-In was located just east of town on US 16 on the north side of the road.

The Drive-In was opened in June 1952 when it was operated by Sam Rosenthal. It made it into the 1980’s, but has been closed and demolished.

Today, the property is being developed for housing with a road already cutting through the middle of the former drive-in.

However, you can still see the faint outline and the ramps.

A more accurate address for this theater is 106 E Hwy 16, Buffalo WY 82834. This points to the Hampton Inn Express. The west end of the lot is where the entrance road stood. The address above is the KOA across the highway from the drive in.

Please update.

Boxoffice, April 19, 1952: “Sam Rosenthal is building a 300-car, $60,000 drive-in at Buffalo, Wyo., where he already operates the Bison in town. He is planning a June opening.”

But there must have been a delay, because one year later, Boxoffice, April 18, 1953: “BUFFALO, WYO. – The new $50,000 Sunset Drive-In, a mile east on Highway 16, opened Friday (17). It has space for 275 cars. Sam Rosenthal is in charge.”
