The Teatro Odeon was built and opened as a cinema in 1908, said to be the first purpose-built cinema in Poland. Seating was provided for 450 on a single floor, with boxes upstairs. A feature of the façade of the building is a carved stone owl which sits on top of the central section.
In 1929 it was re-named Kino London, and in 1938 it became the Kino Metro. It was renamed Kino Gdynia after the end of World War II, around 1945. The Kino Gdynia was closed in the 1980’s.
It was converted into a wallpaper & carpet store, which operated for several years. The building them became derelict. In recent years the façade has been refurbished, but the building remains unused in 2015.
