South Elmsall Picture Hall

Located in Moorthorpe, between South Kirby & South Elmsall, West Yorkshire, 10 miles southeast of Wakefield. The Picture Palace opened on or about 11th March 1911, it is listed in the 1931-1962 Kinematograph Year Books as having a British Thomson Houston(BTH) sound system. It closed around 1964 and was demolished. An Asda supermarket now stands on the site.

this cinema must have been demolished before 1967. I left school in 1965 and went for an interview at Queens Supermarket due to open in sept 1965 [on the same site].
