Located in the north Nottingham district of Forest Fields, at the corner of Berridge Road and Leslie Road. The Picture House was opened on 15th March 1920 with Violet Hopson in “The Whip”. Seating was provided in stalls and circle levels. It had a 28 feet wide proscenium. It became the third cinema in Nottingham to install sound, when a Western Electric(WE) sound system was installed on 12th August 1929 and a screening of Al Jolson in “The Singing Fool”. It was operated in the 1930’s by Lenton Picture House Ltd.
It was taken over by Invincible Cinemas in 1948 and was re-named Apollo Cinema. It was equipped with CinemaScope in 1955. The Apollo Cinema was closed in December 1960.
It went into other uses, and in the 1990’s it became the Jameah Fatimiah Mosque.

Hi I would like to ask for your help please ? I am in search of the manager/ projectionist name who worked at the Forum cinema in 1944/45 . Possibly going by the name Upton ? We are led to believe that he had a son called Mike Upton . Who would now be mid 80’s ?? if anybody know his son ? I would be so grateful if you could help me . Or can advise the best way possible to retrieve this information some how .. Thankyou for reading …
