This theater just opened a few days ago. I really don’t see how this theater will stay open. The mall there is a dying mall. Nobody in the area has any money. Too many screens in the area.
These will be the only 12 screens in town. This is a positive for the mall, because, historically, malls with movie theaters are better able to attract other stores. Our economy is hitting it’s stride. There is money in this community, it’s about providing opportunities to keep the money local. This is a boon for the community, as it is the only theater of this style in the county. People from other towns will drive here to use it, like from Astoria, Rainier, Chehalis, etc. The decision was not made by one guy, it was well thought out and planned.
Chehalis already has a two year old 10 plex stadium seating and digital video projection theater. Astoria already has that newish 6 plex and that restored single screen. The folks in Rainier will probably continue going to that wonderfully restored single screen theater in St. Helens.
