Located in the Syston district on the north outer limits of Leicester. The Syston Kinema was built for George Scarborough and opened in 1936. Seating was provided for 800 in stalls and circle levels. It was equipped with a British Acoustic(BA) sound system. It was later taken over by the Evington Cinema Circuit.
The Savoy Kinema was closed in 1968, and was converted into a bingo club. This eventually closed and the building became a Kwik Save supermarket. It was demolished in the mid-1990’s and a Somerfield supermarket now stands on the site.
