Superior Theatre

Located at the corner of E. 81st Street and 1st Avenue. The Superior Theatre was opened prior to 1926. It was equipped with a Smith organ. It had closed by 1930, possibly never being equipped for ‘talkies’. By 1940 the theatre had been converted into an auto coach works.

The Eaton/Cherokee theatre was at 81st street and First Avenue. (address 1556 East First Avenue)

Could these all be the same theatre?

AlAlvarez: You may have hit upon something there, but, the Superior Theatre is listed in Film Daily Yearbooks for 1926, 1927, 1928 & 1929 with 600 seats. The Cherokee Theatre is listed in 1926 with 500 seats, In 1927 and 1928 it is listed as the New Regent Theatre (500 seats), but not listed in 1929.
