Horizon Cinemas, owned by Ira Miller, opened Sun Valley Movies 6 on December 19, 2014. With six screens and 752 seats, it’s Horizon’s fifth area theater. The Baltimore Sun noted Mr. Miller’s position as “Baltimore’s pre-eminent independent theater owner".
Sun Valley Movies 6, located less than a mile away from Horizon’s Marley Station, will show films at discounted prices, which have finished their first run. Mr. Miller noted that it is the only intermediate-run theater operating in Maryland and it will show family friendly movies. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Upon its reopening in 2022 it began screening first run movies. It was closed on September 30, 2024.
