Located near the Aquarium on Foreshore Road. Originally built and opened as the Grand Skating Rink, used for roller skating. The Grand Picture House was opened in summer of 1914 and also boasted a restaurant. It was damaged by German bombing on 16th December 1914. Repairs were carried out and it re-opened in 1919 operated by H.A. Whitaker. It had a 24 feet wide proscenium.
The Grand Picture House was still operating in 1944, but had closed by 1947.

I have just updated Google street view to a rather distorted image under the Grand Hotel. The bricked up arch to wards the left is, I believe, part of the foyer area of the cinema, but the site is now covered by the road which was made a dual carriageway. The auditorium was long and narrow and stretched across to the right of the streetview.
