Located in Macclesfield, Cheshire. The Theatre Royal was opened in 1882 with 1,200 seats. It had a 28 feet deep stage. It was screening films as part of the variety programme in the early-1900’s. By 1921, it was showing mainly films, but with occasional live performances. It was remodelled in 1922 to the plans of architect A. Clayton and was re-named Opera House,.
In 1931 the Opera House was severely damaged by fire, and never re-opened.
