Located in Romiley, east of Stockport, Cheshire. The Savoy Cinema was opened on 6th October 1934 for an invited audience. It opened to the public on 8th October 1934 with George Raft and Carole Lombard in “Bolero”. Seating was provided for 700 in the stalls and 300 in the circle. It had a 38 feet wide proscenium, a 19 feet deep stage and four dressing rooms. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. There was a cafĂ© attached for the convenience of its patrons.

The Savoy Cinema was independently operated throughout its life, and it was closed on 19th October 1963 with Cecil B. DeMille’s “Samson and Delilah”. From 24th October 1963 it reopened as a bingo club operated by the Wild Leisure Group. The bingo club closed at the end of March 1986. The building has been demolished with housing built on the site.
