The 400 car capacity Dogwood Drive-In was opened on April 18, 1949 with Dana Andrews in “Canyon Passage”. By 1955 it was operated by Rowley United Ltd. In 1982 a second screen was added.

April 18, 1949 Grand Opening Night and it was twined at one time also. So screen number can be changed to 2 screens.
My big sister and her husband lived for a while in Palestine, and we were taken to this drive-in. I remember the feature being Gordon Douglas' “Up Periscope”, and I also remember the large dogwood tree you drove past on your way in or out of the theater.
According to drive-ins.com, the second screen was added in 1982.
