The West 5th Street Drive-In opened on June 12, 1953 with Jane Russell in “Montana Belle”. The car capacity was 347 cars. The drive-in was still listed as open in the mid-1970’s. There is a residence where the drive-in once stood.

Motion Picture Herald, May 2, 1953: “Robert and Al Kehr, owner of two conventional theatres in Ohallala (sic), Neb., will open their 350-car drive-in there about May 15, using RCA.”
Boxoffice, Sept. 17, 1979: “Mid-America Theatres, headed by Craig Stout, has taken over the operation of the Prairie Theatre and the West 5th Street Drive-In Theatre in Ogallala, Neb. from Evergreen Theatres of Colorado which is headquartered in Loveland.”
