Times Theatre

The Times Theatre was on the first floor of the Crete Opera House. The theatre opened in 1938 seating 425.

The building originally opened as Band’s Opera House on November 29, 1877. By 1901 it had been renamed the Crete Opera House. In its early years the opera house presented traveling shows, musicals and various other shows. The first moving picture to be shown in Crete was shown at the Crete Opera House on a 100 square foot screen on June 6, 1906.

After the Times Theatre opened in 1938 it lasted 30 years closing in 1968. Today the Opera Hoouse has been demolished and a bank is located where the building once stood.
