Croft Theatre

The Empress Theatre was opened in October 1920 with a play titled “Desert Gold”. In Ocrober 1929 it was renamed Owl Theatre. In 1935 it became the Bancroft Theatre and by 1937 went back to the Owl Theatre name. By 1940 the it was the Model Theatre and finally in 1945 it was known as the Croft Theatre. The theatre seated 180 and was still listed as open in the late-1950’s. Today the former theatre building houses the Bancroft Senior Citizens Center.

The Empress Theatre Opened Its Doors In October 1920 With A Play Titled “Desert Gold”. It Was Renamed Owl Theatre In October 1929. On Christmas Day 1929, Talkies Were Installed At The Owl Theatre. In 1936, The Owl Theatre Is Remodeled And Was Renamed To Model Theatre Until November 1944, And Was Renamed As The Croft Theatre.
