Actual close date of this theatre was 12/31/1996. An article in the January 1, 1997 edition of the Kansas City Star reported on the closing of this theatre.
So many memories of this theater, went most weekends from around 1984-85. I still remember when they got cherry coke for the first time! Went there with friends on my 11th birthday to see “Rambo: First Blood 2” and when my Grandpa saw the poster he said it was too violent and wouldn’t let us see it. We ended up seeing “Teen Wolf” instead.
This opened as the first 6-plex cinema complex in the state of Kansas by AMC on October 22nd, 1975 and closed in 1985. A grand opening ad can be found in the photo section for this cinema.
