Previous Names: Magique Pathe, Magic Cinema Theatre, Magic Convention
Located in the south of the city centre. The Magique Pathe was opened in 1911. Seating was provided for 1,100 in orchestra and balcony levels. In 1951 it was re-named Magic Cinema Theatre.
In 1967 it became the Magic Convention and was twinned in 1971. In June 1983 it was converted into a 4-screen cinema, with two screens in the former balcony seating 340 and 235 the former orchestra screen seating 465 and a screen in the basement seating 88. Taken over by UGC in 1982 it was re-named UGC Convention. It was closed and was demolished around 2005.
