Steinweg 4 (Oberstadt),

The traditional cosy cinema theatre is a triplex which is situated in one of the most central spots in the university city of Marburg. The city centre is in all senses uptown as the historic part of the city is built on a hill (Oberstadt). The cinema seems to be privately owned and features all assets that an independent cinema has. There is very caring personnel, a personal atmosphere and a carefully picked programme.
The biggest screening room is called “Kammer” (German for “chamber”) and has 215 seats. As a matter of fact, this room is rather a fantasy parlour. It is kept all in a strong red tone from the carpet, the plush seats to the curtain. Old-fashioned lamps add a cosy atmosphere to the theatre. There is a large stall sections and a rather low hanging balcony (or would you rather call it a raised stalls section?).
The smaller theatre Atelier is of very intimate dimensions with 80 seats, rather kept in blue with all seats on one level but also delightfully designed.
I have not had the opportunity to visit the third theater Palette on the first floor which has 130 seats. The cinema offers a varied programme of high-level mainstream and arthouse films in German version.
It is a member of the Europa Cinemas group of art house cinemas.
