Located in Lymington, Hampshire. The Lyric Theatre was built and opened as a cinema in 1913. Seating was provided for 510. In spring of 1914 alterations were made with the installation of a 20ft deep stage and dressing rooms. The Lyric presented films, stage plays and variety acts. The seating capacity was increased to over 600-seats. In 1929 it was equipped with a Mihaly Perfectone sound system.
The building was remodelled in 1935 and the seating capacity increased to 775. It was now equipped with a Kalee sound system.
In the mid-1950’s it was equipped with CinemaScope with a wide screen fitted into the 28 feet wide proscenium. By 1962 it was known as the Lyric Cinema. It was closed in June 1963. It was converted into a bingo club, but that didn’t last long, and after that closed, the building was demolished. Today a Marks & Spencer Simply Food store operates on the site.
