Cinema Vendome opened October 22, 1965, in the Hull Shopping Plaza. It was originally operated by the Cineart film distributing company, which also operated four cinemas in Montreal and one in Quebec City.
Cinema Vendome’s original policy was to show popular films six nights a week, but to reserve Friday nights for a series of international art films.
The house had a fairly short life. By the mid-1970’s it had turned to exploitation films, and it closed in the early-1980’s.
