Seattle International Film Festival (Official)
The permanent home of the Seattle International Film Festival opened at the Seattle Center on October 12, 2011. The Seattle Times noted, including the three-screen SIFF Cinema Uptown and the SIFF Cinema Egyptian, the SIFF Film Center would be its fifth screen. As for the theater, SIFF says it is a “state-of-the-art 95-seat jewel box cinema, with seats rescued from the balcony of Seattle’s Cinerama Theatre.
Designed by Owen Richards Architects, the SIFF headquarters includes offices, classrooms, exhibition spaces, and the film school. The Seattle Examiner said the Film Center was a renovation of the 11,800 square-feet Alki Room that was built for the 1962 World’s Fair.
