The Metropolitan Opera House was constructed in 1890. It was more commonly called the ‘Met’. It served as a live venue until 1940. It started showing movies in 1940 thru 1947. The theatre was then gutted and converted to bars and a bowling alley. It was badly damaged by the floods of 1997. It was later restored and is now an apartment building called the Opera House Apartments.
