This item about renovations at the Colonial is from the April 3, 1915 issue of The Moving Picture World:

“The management of the Colonial theater at Ft. Wayne is planning to remodel the building occupied by the picture playhouse at Calhoun and Washington streets, and when completed will be one of the finest and most up-to-date moving picture houses in the state.”

The Colonial Theatre opened on Saturday, September 17, 1910, according to that day’s issue of The Fort Wayne Journal-Gazette.

A house called the Colonial Theatre was in operation at Fort Wayne prior to 1916, when this notice appeared in the May 20 issue of The Moving Picture World:

“The Colonial Improvements.

“Ft. Wayne, Ind. — The Colonial was closed for two weeks while repairs were being made. Manager H. C. Heisler said that improvements would be made rapidly and that the patrons of the theater would not be kept away long.”
