Built on the site of an airdome theatre. The Plaza Theatre opened on November 11, 1915 with Sydney Seaward in “Doc”. It seated 500 and was closed on June 27, 1927 with Milton Sills in “The Sea Tiger”. The front of the building has been rebuilt and it is now used as a VFW Hall.

Konrad Schiecke’s Historic Movie Theatres in Illinois, 1883–1960 says that the Plaza Theatre opened in 1915 and closed in 1929. This is probably correct, as the Plaza advertised in The Dispatch, Moline’s daily paper, in the early 1920s.

The book also says that the theater has been demolished, but from Google’s satellite view it looks like the auditorium is still there, but the original entrance building has been replaced by a modern structure.

The Plaza Theatre launched November 11, 1915 on the grounds of one of Moline’s four former airdomes. The opening film was “Doc” with Sydney Seaward. F.A. Lundahl & Son operated the theatre with its Powers 6-A projectors. The theatre discontinued ads after the June 27, 1927 showing of “The Sea Tiger” with Milton Sills.
