The Ritz Clipstone in September 2006

Located in Clipstone Village, a district 4 miles to the east of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. The Ritz Cinema was opened in 1936, and was independently operated. It was designed by architectural firm Bocock & Kirk of Mansfield. It was equipped with a Gaumont British (GB) sound system. By 1947 it was operated by W.A. Sleath of the Rex Cinema, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures)

The Ritz Cinema was closed around 1959/1960. It became a function room and pub which was still open in May 2011, but had closed by June 2016. It was demolished in 2017 and the site is vacant in 2023.

Alas, the Ritz is no more. It sat boarded up for a few years in the hope that someone would bring it back to some sort of use, but the bulldozers have now brought it down.
