This was an awesome place to see a film, and could get pretty packed with the right choice of programming. The screen was huge, and for a venue built more as an arena the picture and sound were pretty much spot on. Plus they had a bar open during screenings which was rare in those days
Tonight the city council have have decided to knock it down and replace it with a more suitable venue. The location yet to be decided.
Just added two pictures, one of the current Assembly Rooms and one of the original façade which was rebuilt at the Crich Tramway Museum.
