Coliseum Cinema

Located in the Lincolnshire seaside town of Cleethorpes. Built as a boxing booth in 1920. It was converted into the Coliseum Cinema which opened in 1927. By 1937 it was owned by Cleethorpes Empire Ltd. and they closed the Coliseum Cinema on 19th November 1937.

It was taken over by F.W. Woolworth Co. Ltd. and converted into one of their stores, with little alteration. In 1982 it was an amusement arcade, and in 1985 it became a snooker hall. In 1986 it became an indoor market known as ‘Some Place Else’. In recent years it has operated as a pub & nightclub known as Amishi. It was taken over by the J.D. Wetherspoon chain of pubs in 2014, and re-opened as The Coliseum Picture Theatre on 22nd July 2014.
