During the 1960’s, all of the first run movie theatres and many of the second run ones were located in the Santurce area. But there were also smaller, second run theatres in the outskirts of the city. These were truly neighborhood theatres. The Cine Isaresa was located in the Puerto Nuevo section of San Juan, a middle and lower middle class neighborhood. The Cine Isaresa would play movies that had been shown in the Santurce area a couple of months back. It was opened on April 6, 1962 with Leslie Caron in “Fanny”.
The Cine Isaresa ran the same fate as all neighborhood theatres and it closed down in the early-1970’s. It became a small supermarket and a bar named Vice.

I remember the Isaresa featured a children’s matinee on Saturdays.
Opened on April 6th, 1962. Grand opening ad posted.
