Now Tanager Commons behind Fremont Faire shopping center. The entrance road is now called Enea Ct.
Please update. FYI this is the first drive-in I actually drive to!
Boxoffice, October 1980: “Enea Brothers Theatres closed its Fremont Auto Movies in Fremont. The property is to be converted into a combination shopping center and housing development.”
The Fremont’s last appearance in the Motion Picture Almanac was its 1982 edition.
Opened with “westbound” and “The Nuns story”.
This opened on September 2nd, 1959. Grand opening ad in the photo section.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 34245 Fremont Boulevard. Look for Enea Cir (that’s the entrance driveway). The condos ar the end of this street is where the drive-in stood with the screen next to the highway. I remember the $3 per carload policy, although I only went once in ‘79 when I was 17!
This theater was one of the first in the San Francisco Bay Area to offer $3 a car load entry. This was in the mid 1970’s. Big social location for the young people of Fremont during that decade.
Manager was the oldest? Enea brother, Richard….
