Alderney is the most northern of the Channel Islands located off the coast of Normandy, France. The Channel Islands were the only part of the British Commonwealth to be taken over by the Nazi’s in World War II. The island of Alderney today comes under the jurisdiction of the island of Guernsey to its south.
In 1946 an old chapel was converted into the Lyceum Cinema by Lou Morris. In the 1953 & 1954 editions of Kinematograph Year Book, the Lyceum Cinema is listed with a seating capacity for 380. It was operated by M.H. Higgs and was equipped with a GB-Kalee sound system. It had closed by 1963.

Built as a Scottish Presbyterian Church in 1840, turned into a skating rink and dance-hall then cinema for moving pictures, demolished about 1970.
Technically speaking the Channel islands are not part of the Commonwealth.
