Cinema Royal

Located in Tadley, Hampshire to the north of Basingstoke, on the A340 road. The Cinema Royal was opened in 1953. The building had previously been used by the military as a World War II gunnery and crew procedure building. It was equipped with a British Thomson Houston(BTH) sound system.

The Cinema Royal was closed in 1991, and became a bingo club. It was taken over by new operators on 11th November 1993 and operated as a part-time bingo/cinema operation. It screened its last film in February 1995. It was put up ‘For Sale’ providing the buyer would continue either recreational or entertainment use. It was not sold, and the building stood empty until it was demolished in August 2012, and housing was built on the site.
