The South Drive-In was opened June 11, 1954 with Leo Genn in “The Girls of Pleasure Island” & Glenn Ford in “The Big Heat”. It was operated by Alliance Theater Corp. It operated into at least the 1970’s.

The drive-in was located at approximately 4005 S LaFountain Street (Google) and currently a Lowe’s Home Improvement sits on the property. https://goo.gl/maps/wLstS
June 11th, 1954 grand opening ad in photo section.
Opened with a cartoon(not named), and “Girls of Pleasure Island” and “The big heat”.
On July 24th, 1970, the South Drive-In was completely destroyed by a fire in the Concession Stand and was closed for 5-6 weeks before reopening again.
It Is Closed At The End Of The 1978 Season And Was Demolished In January 1979.
