The Kay-Bee Theatre was opened on December 31, 1927. It was renamed Colonial Theatre on March 5, 1936. By 1941 it was operated by Alliance Theater Corp. They still operated the Colonial Theatre in 1954.

The Colonial Theatre was demolished in February 1974.

A notice about this house appeared in the September 2, 1927 issue of Motion Picture News: “Anderson— Construction started on thea. and store room bldg., costing $50,000. Location, 23rd St. & Columbus Ave. 67 x 115. Seating capacity, 700.”

Reopened as Colonial on March 5th, 1936. Another ad posted.

The Anderson Daily Bulletin reported in February 1932 that owner Miley Realty Company sold the Kay-Bee to Charles Charles of Indianapolis, and that Charles would relocate to Anderson to operate the theater.
