Ambassador Thetare

Originally opened as the 810-seat Ambassador Theatre in 1924, this neighborhood movie house was in a two-story brick building which also housed stores, a soda shop, offices and apartments. In 1945, it was renamed the Temple Theatre, and again on June 29, 1961, when it became the Art Theatre screening arthouse movies.

On August 11, 1971 it was renamed Nu-Art Cinema, operating as an adult film theatre. On December 26, 1975 it was renamed Roxy Theatre screening off-beat classic movies, but closed in 1976. It has long since been closed and torn down.

Such a shame, all of our great theaters such as this one are now empty lots.
