Noverre Cinema

In Norwich, Norfolk, the Noverre Cinema opened in 1950. Its name immortalised a local family out of whose ballroom (dating from 1858) the cinema was formed. It screened films not always available on the commercial circuits. It is remembered with affection for no adverts, no ice cream, plenty of leg room and separate performances. However, it closed on 23th December 1992 after four years of falling ticket sales. It is now part of the adjacent historic Assembly House.
