Opened as the Victory Theatre on May 4, 1919 with Alice Joyce in “The Lion and the Mouse”. It was remodeled and reopened as the Joy Theatre in 1937. The theatre could accomodate 300 patrons. It was operated by the Joy Theatres circuit out of New Orleans. The Joy Theatre was closed on May 2, 1959 with Charlton Heston in “The Ten Commandments”.

This actually opened on May 4, 1919 with Alice Joyce in “The Lion And The Mouse” along with a live musical performance by Sam LeBlanc singing “Smiles” accompanied by Nelson’s Orchestra.
