Previous Names: Gem Cinema
Located in Strood, near Rochester, Kent. The Gem Cinema was opened on 24th December 1910. By 1914 it was operated by S & C Goodman. In around 1932, it was re-named Queens Cinema. It closed as a cinema in April 1941, and then went over to live theatre use, presenting variety shows. Eventually this use ceased.
The building then went over to light industrial use, serving for a time as a crash repair shop and windscreen fitting service. In 2012, the foyer is a café, the former projection box above offers a tanning service, and the auditorium is a used car sale showroom.
