The American Theatre was listed on the Sanborn Insurance Maps of 1920 and was located on the northeast corner of Main Street and Lincoln Avenue. The Film Daily Yearbook of 1927 listed it with 200 seats.
The theatre was closed by 1938 when the Rex Theatre opened kitty corner to the American Theatre, next to the bank building.
